Former Guard Awaits Child Pornography Sentencing

(Hillsboro)--A former Illinois Department of Corrections guard has plead guilty to charges of distributing and possessing child poronography and sexually exploiting a minor.

Sentencing for 46 year old Steven Carson of Hillsboro has been scheduled for June 21st by US District Judge Richard Mills. Carson worked as a guard at Graham Correctional Center. He has been in custody of the US Marshals Service since his arrest in August.

According to records and testimony during a hearing last week, Carson admitted using a child to perform sexually explicit conduct he videotaped. he also admitted sharing child pornography images over the internet.

Reportedly, authorities recovered over twenty three hundred images and forty videos from his computers. Carson faces up to 10 to 20 years in prison.
